Jonathan has always loved working with wood as a creative material. It started with the homemade ‘porcupine’ welly holders and washing line props and then along came Clothesmaid the business, which he acquired in 2010.
Clothesmaid began its days in a Somerset farmhouse and is now based in the Staffordshire countryside.
A real family affair with input from all members including Titch the beloved elderly rescue dog who insists on coming to the workshop every day.
Our suppliers have been carefully selected and materials always sourced as close to home as possible.
The wood for the airers needs the best timber and ours comes from sustainable Scandinavian forests via a UK wood mill.
For more about sustainability please take a look at our Eco-nomics page.
Packaging is kept to a minimum. All cardboard is recycled in-house with waste boxes turned into protective packaging.
The battle with plastic is ongoing, we are always trying to cut down and have reduced this by 25% over the last 6 months.
Hello. I got the clothes props today that I only ordered on Monday. There are so lovely it seems a shame to put them outside! Anyway thank you for your very quick response and the quick sending of them. Thank you very much.
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful customer service. The rails arrived today, can’t wait to put it up now.
Thank you again
I have found it excellent for a small space such as mine. So much so that I’m thinking of getting one for my girlfriend.
Thank you for the clothes pulley which arrived as scheduled. It’s up and ready for operation. Your service is efficient and the product excellent so I will be recommending your company to anyone who asks.
The Six is a fantastic dryer and we love that it looks so good in our new build home. I love my clothesmaid and the huge drying capacity it offers.
I love my fabulous clothes airer – it gets used every time I wash – the best gadget I bought for the new house!
Mine is the best purchase I’ve made in a long time! I love it!
I am really pleased with the Clothesmaid, it is positioned near the boiler and I use it every week for my washing.
